The wait is over for, it has been revealed that the makers have. Nagarjuna, a quadriplegic billionaire, who is paralysed below. He is in dire need of a job that will show him as a do-gooder to get a permanent release from jail. His mother (Jayasudha), a clerk in the railways, disowns him as she thinks he would spoil his siblings as well. Many characters come and go without a purpose, and it tests the patience of the audience every now and then. One thing that had been kept a secret so far about the much-awaited Karthi-Nagarjuna Tamil-Telugu bilingual film, was its title. Karthi, is a happy go lucky guy and a petty thief coming out of jail on parole with the help of his lawyer friend (Vivek). While the romantic track between Nagarjuna and Akanksha Singh is wonderful to watch, Nani and Rashmika's portions fall flat.Īnother major flaw in Devadas is the sheer number of loopholes and unfinished characterisations. The film roams haphazardly in the second half and out of the blue, we see an unwanted message about organ donation being forced into a story like this. But it is safe to say that this move has not worked to his favour. Perhaps Sriram Adittya decided to do it that way to highlight Nani and Nagarjuna's portions. There are nearly four subplots in the story and none of them are well-structured. But the process of him changing into a compassionate man is interesting only in parts.ĭevadas's main plot is the effect Nani and Nagarjuna have on each other. Like Oopiri, Nag rediscovers himself under Nani's influence in Devadas. In a way, Devadas is much like Nagarjuna-Karthi-starrer Oopiri (Thozha in Tamil). There are tons of slo-mo shots of Nagarjuna walking and they still get the audience excited. However, Nagarjuna's character appears out of nowhere. Nani gets an interesting introduction, which explains his character in one sequence. Both of them are on a path to self-discovery which eventually changes their approach to life. Under unusual circumstances, Deva and Das meet each other. And then there is Das (Nani), an innocent and kind doctor.ĭeva and Das are two contrasting characters - one takes the life of people and the other one saves people. No one alive has seen Deva, and it gives him the liberty to roam around without any inhibition of getting caught. And when these two powerhouse performers join hands for a film, you can expect nothing short of a spectacle.ĭeva (Nagarjuna) is a menacing gangster who returns to Hyderabad after a hiatus. Both of them are known for their unique hero-isms and comic timing. Director Sriram Adittya must be appreciated for bringing Nani and Nagarjuna together in a film.
